چکیده

A displacement-based Galerkin meshfree method for large deformation analysis of nearly-incompressible elastic solids is presented. Nodal discretization of the domain is defined by a Delaunay tessellation (three-node triangles and four-node tetrahedra), which is used to form the meshfree basis functions and to numerically integrate the weak form integrals. In the proposed approach for nearly-incompressible solids, a volume-averaged nodal projection operator is constructed to average the dilatational constraint at a node from the displacement field of surrounding nodes. The nodal dilatational constraint is then projected onto the linear approximation space. The displacement field is constructed on the linear space and enriched with bubble-like meshfree basis functions for stability. The new procedure leads to a displacementbased formulation that is similar to F -bar methodologies in finite elements and isogeometric analysis. We adopt maximum-entropy meshfree basis functions, and the performance of the meshfree method is demonstrated on benchmark problems using structured and unstructured background meshes in two and three dimensions. ∗Corresponding author. A three-dimensional nonlinear meshfree algorithm for simulating mechanical responses of soft tissue

This paper presents an effective three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear explicit dynamic meshfree algorithm for the simulation of soft tissue mechanical responses. In the algorithm soft tissues are considered to be hyperelastic and nearly incompressible materials. The algorithm is based on the element-free Galerkin (EFG) method using total Lagrangian formulation and moving least square (MLS) approxim...

Parallel algorithms for planar and spherical Delaunay construction with an application to centroidal Voronoi tessellations

A new algorithm, featuring overlapping domain decompositions, for the parallel construction of Delaunay and Voronoi tessellations is developed. Overlapping allows for the seamless stitching of the partial pieces of the global Delaunay tessellations constructed by individual processors. The algorithm is then modified, by the addition of stereographic projections, to handle the parallel construct...

A Divergence-free Velocity Reconstruction for Incompressible Flows

In incompressible flows with vanishing normal velocities at the boundary, irrotational forces in the momentum equations should be balanced completely by the pressure gradient. Unfortunately, nearly all available discretization methods for incompressible flows violate this property. The origin of the problem is that discrete velocity approximations of incompressible flows are usually not diverge...

Generalized finite element method for modeling nearly incompressible bimaterial hyperelastic solids

An extension of the generalized finite element method to the class of mixed finite element methods is presented to tackle heterogeneous systems with nearly incompressible non-linear hyperelastic material behavior. In particular, heterogeneous systems with large modulus mismatch across the material interface undergoing large strains are investigated using two formulations, one based on a continu...

Improved Robustness of the Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulation with a Nearly Incompressible Elasticity Model

In this work, the robustness of the fluid-structure interaction simulation with a nearly incompressible elasticity model from our previous work [Partitioned solvers for the fluid-structure interaction problems with a nearly incompressible elasticity model, Comput Visual Sci, 14:227-247, 2012] is improved. At each time step of the FSI simulation, using properly chosen elementwise stabilization p...
